Biomass sientific posters

Design and illustration of two scientific infographic posters aimed at communicating to the general public the forest bioeconomy initiatives developed by the University of Córdoba, in collaboration with other organisations, in the Sierra de las Nieves region of Málaga.

The project had two complementary pieces:

1/Forest bioeconomy as a driver of regional development, an infographic poster explaining how the sustainable management of forest resources can generate economic activity and add value to the region.

2/Bio+A Málaga, an infographic poster illustrating the operation of a biomass boiler network installed across several municipalities in the area. The system uses waste generated through forest management to produce thermal energy and provide heating for public buildings.

The main challenge of the commission was to synthesise, organise and structure a large amount of technical, geographical and environmental information, transforming it into a clear, engaging and accessible visual narrative for audiences of different ages.

The illustrations, maps, diagrams and multiple levels of information within the infographics helped make complex concepts more approachable, including forest management, biomass, ecosystem services, resource traceability and voluntary carbon markets.

Both posters form part of a visual communication project focused on forestry and sustainable forest management, bringing together science, territory, the environment and energy. They demonstrate how infographics can facilitate the understanding of complex technical processes and make their economic, social and environmental impacts visible.
