Schizophrenia

Illustration created as a personal exercise for submission to the Jaime Arcos Requena Illustration Awards. Conceived as a practise in thematic, stylistic, and chromatic exploration.

The piece addresses the experience of schizophrenia from a respectful and non-stigmatizing perspective, emphasizing the coexistence of perceptual planes.

The palette combines ochre as a background with structural black, stone grays in the skin, accents of magenta (iris and lips) and electric yellow (halo and marks on the forehead) to articulate hierarchies and focal points.

The hair is presented as a symbolic field that houses double faces and insinuated eyes, a metaphor for the multiplicity of perspectives and the overlapping of stimuli. It seeks to convey complexity without drama, favoring an empathetic and respectful reading.
